In his review of Archana Venkatesan’s,”powerful [and] lovely” new translation, Whitney Cox, Associate Professor in South Asian Languages and Civilizations, discusses the long legacy of COSAS member A. K. Ramanujan on the study of classical South Indian literature, and the different priorities and pressures facing scholarly versus literary translation.
