Amit Anshumali is a development sociologist trained at Cornell. He teaches sociology in the M.A. Program in Social Sciences at UChicago and holds a postdoctoral appointment by courtesy in the Sociology Department. Amit teaches courses in the substantive areas of labor studies, informal economy, migration and development, and methods courses in quantitative research. He also mentors a few grad students on their M.A. thesis and is the MAPSS representative for the concentration in Quantitative Methods and Social Analysis . Currently, Amit’s research examines the relationship between parental outmigration and child health in rural Nepal.
