South Asian Vocal Ensemble: "Swara Sangeet: A Recital of South Indian Classical Music"

The University of Chicago's new South Asian Vocal Ensemble, directed by Carnatic Vocalist Minu Pasupathi, will perform a variety of pieces from the repertoire they have studied during the spring quarter. Forms highlighting sargam scale syllables and vocal virtuosity will be performed along with Sanskrit and Telugu bhajans, a Tamil kriti and a tillana, a song form associated with South Indian classical dance.
