What is a “COSAS Student”?

This is a term that our office uses for students who have a significant interest in the study of South and Southeast Asia. In general, these are students who have taken several language or area studies courses in these fields and have incorporated study of the region into their research.

COSAS students may be affiliated with any University of Chicago department, division, or professional school. We do not receive any formal notice regarding students with these interests, so please do contact our office to have your name added to our campus COSAS-Student list and listserve; to learn more about programs and funding opportunities for COSAS students; and to learn more about whether you are eligible to apply for COSAS student support.
